Budget billing makes your monthly electric bills more consistent throughout the year, helping to eliminate usage fluctuations from month to month. While the weather can be unpredictable, Duquesne Light Company (DLC) makes sure your bill isn’t.
Enrollment: Your budget is calculated by averaging your previous 12 months of bills and dividing it into 12 equal payments. Click the enroll button above to find your total recommended budget amount. To enroll in the budget billing program, you must be up-to-date with payments on your account. Once you've enrolled, your budget amount can be found under the “Current Amount Due Detail” on page 3 of your bill.
Budget Review: DLC will review your budget amount every four months to adjust for usage patterns, rate changes and weather. This review may result in changes to your “Amount Due" to help ensure that your bill reflects your energy use.
Budget Settlement: After 12 months of budget billing, we will settle the difference between your actual energy use and the amount you were charged on the budget billing program. If you paid too much or too little, the difference will be spread in to your next budget amount over the next 12 months.
Cancellation: You can cancel your participation in budget billing here. If your actual use is less than the budget amount billed, your account will be credited that amount in the following bill period. If your actual use is more than the budget amount billed, you will be charged that amount in the following bill period that you un-enroll from budget billing.
